In response to the evolving landscape of e-commerce logistics post Covid-19, BTR.tech undertook a one-of-a-kind project with Smooth Logistics. The primary objectives were to automate the fulfillment process, particularly for chilled and ambient products, reduce dependency on labor, and elevate workforce productivity. BTR.tech implemented a hybrid warehouse model, seamlessly integrating Autostore technology for handling chilled and ambient small goods, and conventional heavy-duty racks for oversized and bulk items. The Autostore system, a goods-to-person model, enabled a significant increase in picking efficiency, reaching up to 350 items per hour per operator, compared to the 80 items per hour in a manual setup. This customization allowed Smooth Logistics to optimize storage, reduce labor requirements, and offer a competitive edge in the market.

Within a remarkable timeframe of nine months, from design to launch, Smooth Logistics' facility became operational on April 1, 2022. In the subsequent twelve months, the facility achieved outstanding results, delivering over 4 million products with 99.7% accuracy in fulfillment and 99.5% on-time delivery. The AS/RS system proved instrumental in storing nearly 30,000 unique SKUs, ensuring a lean and efficient operation.
